There are many opportunities for higher education in Philadelphia and the surrounding area. From art to law, architecture to computers, you’ll find that these colleges and universities offer an incredible array of courses and degrees.
- University of Pennsylvania: This is an official Ivy League school, one of the oldest universities in the nation and a public research facility.
- Philadelphia University: Founded in 1884, this private school offers some 50 undergraduate and graduate degrees, including a highly acclaimed doctoral degree in Textile Engineering and Science.
- Saint Joseph’s University: This Roman Catholic university is now governed by a board of trustees. Study options include a doctorate degree in educational leadership and opportunities to study abroad.
- Temple University: This is a large campus, noted for courses in law, media and business.
- San Francisco Art Institute, offering excellent programs in sculpture, photography and filmmaking.
- San Francisco State, offering excellent science, creative writing and filmmaking programs.
- University of California San Francisco, offering excellent science, medicine and nursing programs.
There are lots more universities in the area. If you’re thinking art, consider the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, University of the Arts, the Art Institute of Philadelphia, or the Moore College of Art. For music, there’s the Curtis Institute of Music. For the sciences, look at the University of Science in Philadelphia.
